UNIUD

Elisa Arnone
Associate Professor
Elisa Arnone is Associate Professor at the Polytechnic Department of Engineering and Architecture, University of Udine. She is the PI of INTENSE project and coordinates the RU at UNIUD. With regard to the project, she has been providing her expertise in the field of hydrological and physically-based modeling applied to rainfall-induced hazards to enhance the understanding of the evolution of hydrological and geomorphological processes at basin scale.

Juby Thomas
Postdoc
Juby Thomas is a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Polytechnic Department of Engineering and Architecture at the University of Udine, Udine, Italy. His expertise lies in modeling the spatial distribution and initiation timing of rainfall-induced shallow landslides using physically based models, with particular attention to data-poor mountainous regions.
UNIPD

Marco Marani
Full Professor
Professor, DICEA - University of Padova. PI of Research Center on Climate Change Impacts, University of Padova, Rovigo. Author of more than 130 papers in international peer-reviewed journals. Research interests span fluvial geomorphology, hydro-meteorology, eco-geomorphology of coastal areas, remote sensing, hydrologic drivers of disease vectors. Rainfall, and extremes in particular, are one of his long-term interests. He proposed and developed the Metastatistical Extreme Value Distribution, an extension of the traditional extreme-value theory.

Francesco Marra
Researcher
Francesco Marra is Assistant Professor in atmospheric physics at the Department of Geosciences, University of Padova. He leads WP3 of the INTENSE project and participates to the activities of WP1 and WP4. His research experience lies at the intersection of atmospheric physics, hydrology and statistics, with a special focus on extreme precipitation and the related hazards.

Matteo Darienzo
Postdoc
Matteo Darienzo is a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Department of Civil, Environmental, and Architectural Engineering at the University of Padova. His expertise lies in numerical and statistical modeling applied to Hydrology and Hydrometry. With regard to the project, he is focusing on the extreme precipitation frequency analysis at the national scale (Italy) based on remote sensing and ground data.
CNR

Roberta Paranunzio
Researcher
Researcher at the Institute for Atmospheric Sciences and Climate (ISAC) of the National Research Council of Italy (CNR) of Torino, Italy. Her work focuses on studying interactions between climate change, natural hazards, and land use change in hotspot areas to assess related risks. She also investigates how exposed physical and socioeconomic systems respond to climate-induced hazards, contributing to the development of strategies for climate adaptation and risk reduction.
UNIPA

Antonio Francipane
Associate Professor
Antonio Francipane graduated in Environmental Engineering with a specialization in Soil Defense in 2006 and earned a Ph.D. in Hydraulic and Environmental Engineering in 2010. He is currently an Associate Professor in the scientific-disciplinary sector CEAR-01/B. He carries out research and teaching activities at the Department of Engineering of the University of Palermo. He has participated in various national and international research projects focusing on hydrological modeling, as well as the prediction and management of hydraulic and hydrogeological risks in the context of climate change.

Dario Treppiedi
Researcher
Dario Treppiedi is a researcher (RTDa) at the Department of Engineering at the University of Palermo. His research focuses on the analysis of extremes in hydrological and climatological fields, with particular attention to extreme precipitation events and their statistical modeling to improve the understanding of the phenomena and the associated risks.
